frankenstein, 2012-

“frankenstein” is an ongoing art-coding project which runs an algorithm to copy and alter its own code, looping through this process until the code can no longer run. Each iteration exports an image file to represent the change made to the code during that iteration. Once the code fails, the images are compiled into a single gif that visualizes the deterioration of the code for the user. Originally conceived before the advent of large language model AI such as ChatGPT, “frankenstein” challenges the user to think about what it means to create, own, and sustain in the modern world.
